ELECTRONICS AND OTHER HACKS

Making things (and/or hacking them) is not only an essential skill, but it’s kind of cool, too. From open-source electronic hardware like the Arduino microcontroller to making camping chairs out of dead wood and binder twine, here are some of things I’ve learned.

Arduino-based projects

The Arduino microcontroller is a great little piece of open-source hardware. There are several excellent tutorials out there if you’re just getting started (some links here)

Basic use of sensors:

  • LDR (photosensor)
  • PIR (infrared motion)
  • Alcohol Gas sensor
  • IR Proximity sensor
  • Compass
  • Reflectance sensor
